Notes from the Field: December 26 2017

Hey, everybody! Welcome to my brand new web site. Crossed Out: An Ana Lode Thriller is officially six days from launching (for pre-order – details soon) and going all-in with a dedicated domain and hosting is a huge step forward.

On to the update…

  • Numbers first: They’re not very sexy, I’m afraid. 32K for Dead Shot: A Diane Pembrook Thriller and 5K for my FREE novella that will only be made available to my email subscribers. See that signup box up below the title of this post? If you’re reading this, you’ve probably been following this saga for a while. Why not get on the inside track to exclusive news and offers? I promise not to spam you, and it’s 100% free to join.

  • As told in the intro, Crossed Out: An Ana Lode Thriller is launching for pre-order on January 1,

. Holy cow! The proof copy of the paperback (!) is on its way to me now, and should arrive by Thursday. No pressure! I know I have a minor tweak to make to the copyright and “about the author” pages as my web URL has now changed, and that would be lame to still point back to the old site. Other than that, the previewer gave the appearance that it’s ready for prime time, but I am looking forward to reviewing the proof copy.

As a side note to those of you who just signed up for my email list, YOU get the cover reveal on December 31, 2017. See? Perks!

  • Jaime and I had a low-key weekend. No Disney World for us, sadly, as our annual passes are blacked out for the remainder of the year. We did check out the Christmas lights at the city hall, and to our disappointment they apparently decided that “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift was not holiday music.

  • This week is going to be intensive, between writing, my day job, and getting Crossed Out ready for launch. While I’m down on myself for not hitting my 40K target for Dead Shot, the fact is that self-publishing is fraught with action items, not merely writing manuscripts and little else. This has been an enormous learning experience, but I’m still enjoying it, which is a good thing.

Have an enjoyable week. 2018 will be here soon!
